Budget Beauty DIY

Let’s be real, we all love to be pampered. Like, looooovvveeee it. (A lot!) But more often than not, the hefty price of beauty treatments, especially when you're looking for organic and sustainable beauty products, forces us to adult so hard, and pay our rent in lieu of a facial. (Responsibility is a sacrifice, y’all!)

Instead, we decided to bring the spa to us and compiled a few inexpensive yet luxurious treatments to do at home…bonus, you don’t even have to wear pants and cute Toot mug makes a perfect mixing bowl. So pack up that sustainable, reusable, and cute tote bag with these ingredients, head to your besties house and get ready to DIY. #Winning

Oats & Honey Face Mask

+ 3 tablespoons of ground or whole oats
+ 1 tablespoon of hot water
+ 1 tablespoon of honey
+ 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice (optional)

In a small bowl, stir together the oats and hot water. Mix lightly and let cool. Once the mixture is warm (not hot!) slowly add the honey. For the acne prone, add 1/2 a tablespoon of lemon juice to fight bacteria and scarring. Let cool until a comfortable temperature then spread onto your face just like any other face mask. Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes then wash off with warm water. Gently pat your face dry and admire that glow, girl!

Herb Sugar Lip Scrub

+ 3 teaspoons of sugar
+ 2 teaspoons of honey
+ 1 teaspoon of chopped herbs (of your choice!)

In a small bowl mix together sugar and honey. Chop the herb of your choice (rosemary, lavender and mint are personal faves!) and stir into the sugar/honey combo. Once fully mixed, add a pinch onto your lips and scrub in soft, circular motions. Wash off with warm water, however, if you choose to lick it off, we promise not to judge! Pucker up and add some gloss to those lusciously exfoliated lips.

Homemade Dry Shampoo

+ 1/4 cup of arrowroot powder or cornstarch
+ 10 drops of rosemary essential oil for hair growth
+ optional cocoa powder

In a small bowl and mix together your arrowroot powder/cornstarch and rosemary oil. For our brunette ladies, add 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder for added color. Add more as needed. Store your homemade dry shampoo in an airtight container to keep it fresh. Apply by sprinkling directly onto your scalp or use a powder makeup brush to dab onto your oily roots. Rub it in to reduce visibility and your hair is ready to shine another day.

Hopefully these budget friendly, DIY beauty recipes have inspired you to invite a friend over, rummage through your kitchen and create a spa day in the comfort of home. Don’t forget to put on your fave Netflix show, pour yourself a drink in your favorite funny mug and kick up your feet. You deserve it, girlfriend.
